FAB Friday Kids' Concert: Anza's Spanish Sing-Along @ Crispus Attucks Playground

Anza spent her early years growing up in Colombia, where she studied music and was a music teacher for over 20 years. In addition, Anza is a singer and a director for the Spanish Music Choir in the Church of the Immaculate Conception here in NYC. She has dedicated her career to bringing happiness to children through music and entertainment in this country for more than a decade. Anza’s Spanish Sing-Along is a regular class at Busy Bodies Brooklyn in Clinton Hill; we are fortunate to have her back for a rousing outdoor performance!

FAB Friday Kids’ Concerts are appropriate for kids ages. 12 mos. – 5 yrs; and the events are FREE. NEW LOCATION: Crispus Attucks Playground, at the corner of Classon Ave. and Fulton St.

The Art of the Score is a live music & film event that will allow musicians an opportunity to score a movie in front of a live audience in a competitive setting. The event will highlight the convergence between music and the moving image…. an experience combining music and cinema in a way that has never been done before.

A LIVE movie scoring competition where the theme is honoring Melvin Van Peeples, the first Black Superhero! 3 contestants will score a 6-minute clip of Sweet Sweetback’s Baaadaaasss Song. The winner of the scoring competition will be offered the opportunity to open one of the NYC Parks summer outdoor movie events and will be offered a development package with Independent Ear and Universal Music.

The INTERNATIONAL AFRICAN ARTS FESTIVAL (IAAFestival), Brooklyn’s most beloved celebration of African culture and family, returns to Commodore Barry Park on Saturday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 4, 2018. In addition to its stellar line-up of legendary and beloved performers from around the world, its all-day family-friendly programming, and its safe and clean environment, IAAFestival will present a new program feature: a five-day film festival in partnership with the Africa World Documentary Film Festival (AWDFF).

As usual, the 2018 headliners and featured performers include luminaries from a variety of genres: avant-garde jazz and hard bop musician REGINALD “REGGIE” WORKMAN who will play in tribute to JOHN COLTRANE; the world-renown BALLET FOLKLÓRICO CUTUMBA, an Afro-Cuban-Franco-Haitian folk and popular dance and music ensemble from Cuba founded in 1960; AKAE BEKA, the roots rock reggae band formerly known as Midnite; the MUNTU DANCE THEATRE OF CHICAGO; the GRAMMY nominated jazz duo, THE BAYLOR PROJECT featuring JEAN BAYLOR and MARCUS BAYLOR, and NEIL CLARKE’S MONGOJAZZ PROJECT.
